Nerds, geek, fans, young or old no matter what category you fit in the Detroit FanFare Comic Con will please everyone. From comics to stars and toys there was a lot to see and do all weekend long. (to see a list of Stars on hand see list below)
The annual fanfare started on Friday Oct 25 2013 and ran till Oct 27 2013 with fun for all ages and people. The event started on Friday with the opening ceremony and convention. At the event kick off there was plenty things to do from looking around at the graphic novel or comic books. Seeing the new and local artist from around the globe showing off their works. You could also shop for that new or old comic books and action figures. There were the big name stars that came into the show signing autographs, posing for pictures and more. Friday also held the annual zombie walk in Detroit along with the Shel Dorf award honoring local artist and others from around the world for there talent on the comic, moves and artist industry.
As you move into Saturday, there was still plenty to do. From taking in many different things from watching a local speed paint artist make wonderful works of art that you could bid on at the silent action or to many of the different panels in which you ask your favorite celebrity or comic book creator question. There were also a costume contest for anyone that came in dress in there favorite costume which the over all winner gets to come back next year as a vip guest of the fanfare (you can see the winner in the group image blow). People that came to the event could also do there part by helping out across Michigan with the red cross blood for comic drive where you donated just a pint of blood and got to take a bag full of comics home to read. Even as the event on Saturday started winding down there was still stuff to do after the convention closed with the after party heating things up. You could also take in a movie and play along with the Rocky Horror Picture Show live performance.
Moving into Sunday, still brought many people out to the event to get there comics or see their favorite stars that were on hand and take part in a panel or two. Sunday also was kids day, and it saw many of them coming out dressed in costume. Events for kids were a costume contest, trick or treating, learning to be a princess , swim with a mermaid and more. This was the perfect day to come out if you had little ones because of all the stuff for them to do and kids under the age of 12 were free.
So if you’ve never been to an event like this then you will have to wait till next year to check it out again. There will be even bigger things to do and see coming next year at the event . You can see some of the image form this year event below. We look forward to seeing what next year will bring to this event and what new stars come out for all of us.
