THREE TIME GRAMMY AWARD WINNER BRANDI CARLILE TO HEADLINE COMMON GROUND MUSIC FESTIVAL!
Lansing, Michigan – The final headliner is here for the 2019 Common Ground Music Festival; Brandi Carlile will be headlining Thursday, June 27th at Adado Riverfront Park in downtown Lansing.
GRAMMY award-winning singer-songwriter and producer Brandi Carlile, will be bringing her multi-genre style of music to Lansing, MI for Thursday night of the 20th anniversary Common Ground Music Festival. She was the most nominated female artist and third-most nominated artist overall at the 61st GRAMMY Awards in 2019 with six nominations including Album Of The Year (By The Way, I Forgive You), Record Of The Year (“The Joke”), Song of the Year (“The Joke”), Best Americana Album, Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots Performance. The nominations cap off a breakthrough year for the acclaimed singer, songwriter and performer, whose music through the years has been categorized in several genres, including pop, rock, alternative country, and folk. She has said of her style, “I’ve gone through all sorts of vocal phases, from pop to blues to R&B, but no matter what I do, I just can’t get the country and western out of my voice.” Among her accolades the track “Everytime I Hear That Song” from her sixth studio album By The Way, I Forgive You, was listed on Former President Barack Obama’s year end playlist in 2018. Most recently, Carlile joined forces with Sam Smith on a new duet version of “Party Of One” and released a duet with Maren Morris “Common” featured on Morris’ new album Girl.
Joining the lineup on Thursday is Canadian singer-songwriter City and Colour. With 3 JUNO Awards under his belt — including two SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR awards (2009, 2012), 3 Double Platinum and 1 Platinum-selling studio album in Canada, Green’s latest and 5th studio album If I Should Go Before You debuted #1 on the Top 200 Soundscan, City and Colour’s third consecutive chart-topper in Canada. The LP also made serious waves internationally debuting at #16 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart and #5 in Australia where Green’s LP Little Hell went GOLD. In 2014, Green collaborated with international superstar P!nk on a project titled You+Me. The duo’s acclaimed Platinum-certified debut, Rose ave., debuted at #4 on the U.S. Top 200 Chart, #1 in Canada, #2 in Australia culminating in memorable performances on The Ellen Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Green’s latest offering, an intimate live collection titled Guide Me Back Home, is a beautifully recorded and meticulously curated album recorded during his sold-out 2017 Canadian solo tour.
Also hitting the stage on Thursday, June 27th will be triple GRAMMY nominee American funk and soul band Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Described by NPR as a band with “irresistible rock ‘n’ roll swagger” and included on Rolling Stone’s list of 100 greatest guitarists of all time Robert Randolph and his band will be a set you won’t want to miss. Fans can also catch performances by folk / rock / indie group Arlo McKinley and the Lonesome Sound, Michigan based pop-rock band Mike Mains and The Branches, and Ohio natives Motherfolk on Thursday evening.
