The Crowd Roars at Sold out Brett Young concert on Aug 11 20189

On Aug 11 2018 Ken Shelton Promotion brought to the little town of Bay City Michigan Brett Young Concert. It didn’t take long for this show to be sold out not just in VIP ticket but also general admission ticket as well.

People came from all over Michigan and even the surrounding state to see the huge performance of Brett Young on the little Wenonah Park Stage. But before Brett Young would take the stage there was some great warm up act that would get the crowd pump up for his performance.

To start the show was the star-spangle banner sung by Ken Shelton own daughter (who earn her spot to sing this honor).

But the first band to start off the concert  would be the Todd Michael Band.  Playing there version of modern rock and roll country that would get the people standing and clapping to the word. He would also not only play a few of there original song but some of the crowd favorite from other artist as well. Following up his performance he would then walk down to sign autographs and take photo with his fans.

Cj Solar would then take the stage bring a bit of a southern country style to the stage with a big hair rock looking band. They would rock the way into the heart of there fan and those that came out to see Brett Young.

As the Cj Solar would end there music night in bay city. Brett Young would be about to take the stage. But to keep the crowd pump up in between set a Dj would keep everyone going.

Brett Young would come on to the small stage with a pumped up energy from the crowd who started call his name just before he would come on stage. He would be sporting a blue shirt and jeans ready to rock the night away. As he performed to the crowd that would get up out of there chairs and began to dance in the spot they had pick out for the the concert. The music would keep them going for one while wild at the sold out show.

This major concert was brought to you by Wilson Ford. Along with great music there was a variety of thing to eat. From great BBQ by That’s Guy’s BBQ to pizza and mexican food as well. For drink there you have the option of soda to one of the the two beer stations and mix drink need.

So over all you had the a chance to get great food while have fun listening to wild night of music. If you miss this show you have to drive far away to Brett Young while he is on his tour.

But if your looking for another big concert in the small town Bay City Michigan. You can check out Kip Moore on Sept 13 2018.

Kick Roaring good time-Faster Horses 2018

The aliens have arrived at the biggest country music party of the year.  As Faster horses came rolling into Brooklyn Michigan for the biggest part of the summer.  Scott Deforest and Kyle Kosciolek thought why not liven thing up by wearing a blow up costume of aliens holding their humans.  This was just a few of the site you get to see over the three day festival of country music.

FasterHorsesFest2018__20180720__JOE_7971__Joe's Photography_Michigaaneventmagazine

Faster Horses Music Festival is a three day music festival that took place in Brooklyn Michigan at the Michigan International Speedway. This festival bring together list of both National act to those that are hoping to be on the top stage of national performers for a music festival that is out of the world.

Beside music there are lot of thing you could due at the three day festival.  First off if this was your first time one of the biggest thing you can do is spend your day camping at one of the 5 different campsite along with the special vip camp site. This is where the party would continue and start each day of the music festival.  The campsite range in price from low to high. The biggest would be the vip camping site that allow those that want to do camping close to the festival in special teepee style tents. Some of the other thing you could do was a big of shopping weather it be something made right here in Michigan or that fabulous music and festival merchandise.

You could also take in some of the annual fun at the festival like take a ride down the big water slide, ride the ferris wheel , play video game, due a bit of line dancing and playing a few of the lawn game they had.  There was also a corn hole tourment that went on as well location in what they call the beach area. There you could also play some beach volleyball as well. If this wasn’t something you want to do or play, you could take in on playing some softball or even play the big dart board with soccer velcro balls.

FasterHorsesMusicFestival_MichiganEvnetMagazine_2873_20160717

There also was some special thing you could due while at the Faster Horses Music festival was take part in the faster humans ride. Where contest could run around the Michigan International Speedway. They were also welcome to wear whatever they wanted during the event so they could win prizes (contest winner category Fastest Human, best costume and more).  This year Faster Horse Humans runs also partner with the Foundation for flint witch each $20 donation runner would get a free t-shirt plus a pancake. All the proceeds would go to the Flint Child Health and Development Fund in order to help out the water crisis in Flint Michigan.

Some of the other thing can you can do was on Sunday see the Hustle & Muscle Classic car and Truck Show. This would bring in all type of cars and truck for everyone to see from all ears of time. There even was a hearse on hand showing off the fans with a special guest (DEAD Bob as we like to call him).

Fasterhorese2018__20180722__JOE_9570__Joe's Photography_Michigaaneventmagazine

But the biggest draw for the three day festival would be the music and the parting. This year was a lucky year for Faster Horses that we only had one bad day at the event due to weather.

This was would happen friday after when some bad storm started moving across Michigan. Weather would prompt the Faster Horses crew and staff to take some precaution and the fan safe into account. So on friday due to the weather approaching the the staff would stop the event for a few hours to let the bad weather roll through. They had all fans run to there campsite and or cars to wait out the storm for there safety.  But overall the nice warm sun came out for all three day to make the festival the place to be.

How ever for the three day festival this wasn’t there only thing to worry about. With what everything that has happen at other festival this year they wanted to take a bigger safety precaution. So the staff at Faster Horses would put on add security at this year vent. This would including baggage check, car searches as well as metal detectors.  You may think this was a bit of overboard for the three day festival but for the fans it didn’t bother them whatsoever. The fan took is as that they were being watch out for so they could party hard.

Fasterhorese2018__20180722__JOE_0152__Joe's Photography_Michigaaneventmagazine

They could party as hard they want to all three days with whatever they wanted to drink. As alway the major sponsor of the event Budweiser was on hand selling all the beer you could drink all day long but they weren’t the adult beverage on hand. You could also party with Smirnoff  or even was able to try something new this year was a slushy. For $20 you got yourself a special Faster Horses mug with one of two flavors drink either strawberry or margarita. This would help keep you cool in the warm sun. But if the weather was to warm for yea there was a free water fill station that you could use all festival long to stay hydrate along with cooling station to keep you a little cool as well.

We all know partying is hard work and that beside getting thirsty you might be get a little bit hungry.  There was a good variety of food on hand from hamburger to hot dogs, two different style pizza (one by a store and the other by fire pit oven on the spot), bbq pig roast right on the spot for you to enjoy and a few different food truck (one of which included a grilled cheese gourmet truck).  So there was plenty of food for yea to choose from.

Everything that you could see and do at the event along with eat or drink. The true part of the event that everyone came to see was the music.  This year event was even bigger then ever with music performers. So some 70,000 fans flock to the event to see now only the three main headliner (Blake Shelton, Brook & Dunn,Florida Georgia Line) but the cast of what is call the Next Nashville star. These star would play on the Next Nashville Stage.

So let’s start with the performers on the Next Nashville stage. Friday you were able to see Jamson Rodgers (pm),Austin Burke (1:50pm), Meghan Partrick (2:45pm), Dylan Schneider(3:50pm and then to end friday Next Nashville stage preformers would be Jillian Jaqueline (5:10 pm). Fasterhorese2018__20180722__JOE_9551__Joe's Photography_Michigaaneventmagazine

The main stage that tower over the crowd of waiting fans would start it’s on all three day with Dee Jay Silvers on 2:55 pm. Friday nation act would be Jordan Davis (3:25pm), Raelynn (4:40pm), Midland (6:10pm), Brantley Gilbert (7:50pm) and following up with the Huge act of Blake Shelton (9:40). Please note that on friday the time are delayed by two hours due to rain storm. Saturday act would included Walker Hayes (3:25pm), Locash (4:40pm), Chris Janson (6:00pm), Billy Currington (7:40 pm) follow up by the alway popular Brook & Dunn.  The final performance would be on sunday to end the Faster Horses fun of music, drinking and party with friends. The act would be Ashley Mcbryde (3:25 pm) who had a soul foul sound with her old style country music. Following her up would be Parmalee (4:40pm), Tyler Farr (6pm), Dustin Lynch (7:40pm) would get the crowd rocking and rolling just in time for Florida Georgia Line (9:30pm) to take the stage to keep the party going all night long just in time to end the night to a great fireworks display.

Fasterhorese2018__20180722__JOE_0227__Joe's Photography_Michigaaneventmagazine

The music that played on both stage would range from old style and soul foul country that would fill the heart with warmth to rock-n-roll country that was heart thumping music. This would get the crowd pump up and partying all night long as the main stage would close down and start to open up the after party on  Friday and Saturday with DEE Jay Silver (DJ) down in the next Nashville stage.

So if you never been to a Faster Horse you missing out on one wild ride that is truly why they call it the party of the summer. But just don’t take our word for it check out some of the picture below of the performers and fans having a blast.

Shooting for the Stars: 1st Annual Bay City Country Music Festival 2018

BaycitycountrymusicfestivalKen

The Country stars were aligned for the first ever Bay City Country Music Festival that ran from June 22-23 2018 in Bay City Michigan.  Wenonah Park would play host for the first ever annual country music festival two day event. It would place hose to many local band that have plays show all over Michigan. There were two top Nashville acts that would headline this year event. Thompson Square on Friday June 22 and then Frankie Ballard on June 23. All this was sponsor by La Fontaine of Birch Run Michigan

The event was the brainchild of Ken Shelton Promotions. He came up with the idea when see other huge event in Michigan that people had to drive hours away and spend tons of money on. He when ask by other new interview why he thought this would be great for Mid-Michigan. He say Bay city was the perfect spot cause of the friendly people that show their support to all the local band that played at the park. He said I wanted to do a event that could not only bring something to our small part of the world but also give you the feeling as if you was at a big event like those that you have to drive our away.

MichiganEventMagazine_1baycityCountryMusicFestival__20180622__JOE_6459__20180622_Joe's Photography

So Ken Shelton Promotion would bring together a few big name local band that have hit the big stage along with with two top acts like Thompson Square and Frankie Ballard. Who both would very happy to play the small low cost event in Bay City Michigan.

After making the announcement of the event on his Facebook page, it was apparent that people was ready to see this come to Mid-Michigan. People already started asking his company to hold ticket for them. But as soon as they went on sale both night VIP ticket was selling out fast. With Frankie Ballard selling out with in the first few day and then Thompsquare a few days later. So people had to turn there site to general admission ticket, that would got both on sale at the State Theater in Bay City as well as at the gate the day of.

As the days roll on you could see that people what all a buzzed for the event as the news feed for the event was rolling with question on who were the other band that will be playing as well.

So people began to prep for the big day even though it look like mother nature might show everyone some love with good weather. How ever that wasn’t the case, even though on friday she would give us a small but over cast friday. She would leave everyone know last even that she was watching at the main act took to the stage with small sprinkle of shower would come down but it wasn’t enough to drown out the show. On Saturday she gave everyone nice sunny sky’s’ most of the day but later on a few sprinkler just like someone was just water their lawns would come down in order for the crowd to pop up there umbrellas. But even that would stop the fans from coming out.

Fans began to line up for staring about 3:00 pm on both day so they could get good seats for the shows. They all came ready with their boots, hats and other gear to party all night long.

As the gates open up at 5pm on both day at 5:30 it saw little town hopeful Jessica Goik (Bay City Michigan) sing the National Anthem to the waiting crowds on both nights. Jessica has been singing the National Anthem all across Michigan at Sporting Event, Concerts  and more.

MichiganEventMagazine_1baycityCountryMusicFestival__20180622__JOE_6431__20180622_Joe's Photography

Following her up on friday would be the first band of the night. It was Mandi Layne & Lost Highway band who would get the joint jumping to a wide array of music. She sang a few of her original works as well some of the country favorite of other artist.

Next to take to the stage was Kari Holmes. Kair would play her top hit as well as crowd favorite that would keep the energy pump up. She even at one point in between song to point out where her booth was so everyone could come up and get her autograph by making fun of her own banner saying that it kind of look like something you see for someone selling real estate. This would get everyone laughing an even more excited to hear her music.  Todd Michael band who was found in Saginaw michigan. Following them was Kin Faux who would draw their inspiration of music from old country like Johnny Cash and other great giants. The would sing with a mission of trying to put western back into country music.

As the local band would draw to a end for Friday night it was Thompson Square turn. They came out like a bang, getting the crowd pump up with there music. They would play their hit song “Make it Rain” which you could hear them say as the solo instrumental part of the song was playing that they shouldn’t have start with it cause as they did mother nature say OK and lest it sprinkle as they played there song. But that would keep the crowd from getting up dancing and singing along to their favorite it that Thompson Square would play.

MichiganEventMagazine_1baycityCountryMusicFestival__20180622__JOE_6968__20180622_Joe's Photography

Saturday June 23 would bring a whole new array of musical talent to the Wenonah bands stage. Jessica Goik would once again start off the day performance with the National Anthem. Following her would be a old band who play the stage for many year in bay city. How ever according to the lead singer this would be there last appearance in bay city. It would be Randy Badour & The Matt Ryan Band playing their favorite hits from there CD.  After them would come Tweed & Dixie would get the joint jumping by playing there version of Rock-n-Roll country Music. They would be playing the stage after opening up the earlier weekend for the rock-n-roll band Quiet Riot who play at Ojibway Island in Saginaw Michigan.

MichiganEventMagazine_1BaycityCountryMusicFestival__20180623__JOE_7110__20180623_Joe's Photography

Rocking to the country music of Tweed & Dixie, they would be followed up by local favorite Steve Armstrong & 25-cent beer band. On deck after Steve Armstrong would a Bay City local boy who made it big in Nashville. He grew up and graduated from Garber High School and it was J. (Joey) Hartley. J Hartley would have a few fans in the audience sporting singing to show how much they love him.

Frankie Ballard would be that last act to perform for the crowd for this year Bay City Country Music Festival. Frankie Ballard would come out sporting a 50’s style outfit that you would see the singer Frankie Avalon wear. He sang song from all of his CD and top number one hits. Even at one point going back in time by singing Tennessee Ernie Ford “16 tons” song. This would get the crowd singing along to it as well.

MichiganEventMagazine_1BaycityCountryMusicFestival__20180623__JOE_7469__20180623_Joe's Photography

He would keep the joint jumping all night long. But beside the music there what as few other thing you could. For example if you wanted to you could due a bit of shopping buy all the band item that each one offer to the fans on both days along with getting that item singed.  There was also two other vendor on hand one selling jewelry for the ladies to pick up or if you want to you could go walk over to the country store and buy that cowboy hat or belt with your hand stamp on it. There also was a variety of food vendors on hand. So if you was hungry you could buy everything taco, BBQ, pizza, hamburger and fries to Kettle corn and regular popcorn.

MichiganEventMagazine_1baycityCountryMusicFestival__20180622__JOE_6403__20180622_Joe's Photography

But if you was thirsty for the adult beverage there was the beer tent. That offered everything from cold beer to a few mix drink or shot of alcohol if you wish. There was a lot for yea to do whether it be the bands or the food and if you miss out you have to wait another year to come out to the event.

That right it’s already being planned for next year. Ken Shelton Promotion all ready post that June 21-22 2019 for Wenonah Park Band Shell Bay City Michigan. So we look forward to see who will show at the top act for next year performances. So start planning your trip for next year. It will  soon to be one of the biggest event in Michigan.

It’s a bird, a plane, no it’s a arrow? Motor City Comic Con 2018

Nerds, geeks, movies lover and sport fans. The 2018 Motor City Comic con was the place to be in Novi Michigan this year. It was another big year for Motor City Comic con with over some 55,000 fans descended to the Suburban Collection Show Place for the annual event.

It place host to 42 special media guests, 229 comic artists with a wide array of talent to 107 different vendor and 36 crafters that was on hand for the three day event. So everything on hand there was a lot to see and do.  Just like fans where able to see a lot so where the artist as they could talk with there fellow comic artist that where on hand, like we was able to do before the event even took place by getting the chance to interview Robert  Pope. He was artist that we was got to interview the week of the event. Robert Pope is a artist out of the great state of Georgia . He love to draw from a early age and drew his inspiration for different comic book and other comic medias. He drew for companies like DC Comic, The Peanuts gangs. You can see some of the question we was able to ask him at the end of the article.

With all this thing that was on hand there was some sad new that blew a small sadness to the event this year. One of the biggest Media star for a special 40 anniversary had a passed away the Sunday before the event. But this still didn’t put a damper on the event, Motor City Comic Con made the best of it.

The passing of actress Margaret Ruth Kidder who played Lois Lane from the original superman movies, was going to be on hand for the 40th anniversary of the movies. So to show there support not just of the movie but of her career. They took the time to decorate her space with flowers and everything for fan to remember her. They even got a huge blow up picture of her that people could come by and sign along with a special guest book that was sent to her family after the event had ended.

MotorCityComicCon_20180518_20180518_Joe's Photography-8

But even with that loss at the event there was a few great gift at the event. First one was that Tom Welling from the TV Smallville and Lucifer. He brought with him just for Friday only was Michael Rosenbaum (plays Lex Luthor from Smallville). Rosenbaum cam in to share the spot like with Tom and event sit in on his panel for Friday.  If you was lucky to sit in on the panel you might got a great treat for doing so. As Tom and Michael came out on stage first thing Michael ask was there a wireless microphone anywhere then he saw it down on the floor where fan where able to walk up and ask question. So instead of staying on stage Michael walk down and took over the fan wireless microphone. As fan where light up he said he was going to help them ask there question to the both of them.

Some of the question where ask was like what was your funny moment in Smallville. Tom would tell the young fan who was being hugged by Michael waiting for the answer was that it was the time that Michael was playing his farther in a episode. Tom would set the scene by explaining that when we walk on set he saw two huge crane that Micheal would be harnessed into for the shot to show him flying in.  Micheal would then take over by explaining what had happen to make it funny.  It’s the fact that he was to come flying in and then land perfectly in front of Tom and say his line. How ever as he would explain that as he would come flying it for some reason he start twisting in the rigging and doing a bit of acrobats that would have tom laughing so hard. That when he landed and Micheal would say his line Tom said that he just crack up even more and that it took about 5 take in the show of him flying before they got right form the laughing.

MotorCityComicCon_20180518_20180518_Joe's Photography-42

There were many media stars on hand and each had there own panel through the weekend.  There was one media star who could be there cause she broke her leg and her doctor told her that she could fly in. How ever even with not being able to show. She tweeted that she is sending a ton of free stuff that will be given away at her panel for all her fans, each item was sign with a special note.

One of the biggest draw this year for media star was Stephen Amell from the TV show Arrow. His panel was fill to the max with fans that got a great answer to there waiting question that they wanted to ask him. He even during his panel would drop a few hint for what the next season of arrow will offer ask one of the fan ask him a question about what is next to come for him. He went on to answer the question and then drop the hint that in the new season he is planning on wearing the signature green arrow goatee. If you ever seen the original green arrow comic and in cartoons, the characters would wear a goatee. How ever he was very adamant that no matter what he would not wear the dopey  arrow hate with the feather tuck in it (think of robin hood outfit).

There where many other panel that went on through the event that you would get little nugget like the one Stephen Amell drop.  But if you wasn’t meet them in there panel you get the chance to stand in line to get there autograph of that favorite item you have or buy one of there personal photo they all offered.

You also was able to buy your own special photo op with each of the media stars that was on hand.  But with the media star you still was able to do a lot. You could do a bit of shopping as well from the hundreds of vendors on . Some of the item you could been lucky to buy was the rare toy or your very own hand drawn comic art from of one of the artist that was on hand.

Some of the artiste who where on hand when they weren’t signing art, they was drawing it for everyone to see. Like this artist who use chalk as her medium to draw out huge works of art. Just like the one she was doing during the comic con.

There was a lot to see and do, but let’s not forget about all the fans that was on hand as well to see beside the artists and media guests. Fans came in all shape and size even a few cam dress up in there favorite costumes (to become a cosplayer) for everyone to see.  You could see fans dress up every day of the event but on Saturday was the biggest day for those fans that want to do some extra to show off. There was a cosplay contest (costume contest) that they could enter for a chance to win thousand of dollar in prices.

The contest took place at near the end of the event.  This saw hundreds of fans dress up in there cosplay outfits each of them that enter would come on on to stage where they could show off what they where wearing and even made.  They also had the chance to talk or do a small skit to show off there cosplay.  One of the lucky winner of the the contest on Saturday was a group who played out He-Man and mater of the universe.

But Saturday wasn’t the only day for costume contest. Sunday saw another contest for cosplay but this time it was for the small one. The contest on Sunday was the little kid. This would always a wide array of costume little one.

So if you missed out on this one you have to wait another for the Motor City Comic Con.  Motor City Comic Con will be head on May 17-19 2019 and will be the 30th Anniversary.  We can hope that it will be even bigger then this year cause also while we was at the event we learn that the Showcase was being upgraded by building new section to the location.

We will see everyone there and what new thing will come.

Question:  What got you into doing comic art?

Answer: I got into doing art when I was younger. I was always seeming to draw different characters. But it wasn’t till I look at the old peanuts comic strips that I truly wanted to make this what I wanted to due.

He would also tell yea some of of this other influences was the Loony Tunes and Walt Disney.

Question: How due you come up for the ideas when doing a comic book.

Answer: Most of the time I follow  script but event then it hard to draw something. Sometime you have to come up with your idea. Cause unlike with television show when you see a action the screen would fade to black and then you see the what happen. Drawing a comic book I have to remember that when you see the cause of something cause of the way you ready it you have to do it in a way that you flip the page you see the action that had happen.

He would give example of the Willie coyote and road runner show. Where you see Willie strap him self to a rocket and it would fire then screen would go black and you next see the road runner as the rocket would fly bu just in time for Willie to be hit by a rock or something. This is what he would explain would be the hard party in drawing a comic book.

Question: What you like about going to Comic Cons?

Answer:  The thing I like about going to them is meeting fans. Having them come up and having them ask me how I got me start. I love tell fans how I got my start. I also love it when I hear from fan as they talk to other artist on how they got there start as well.  Learning that how we each differ in the ways we got our starts. This is what I like about going to Comic Cons. Seeing the interaction between fans and other artists.

As we finished up our out talk and getting a wide array of answer to the question we ask we wanted to end with this one.

Question: With the use of Digital media and internet Do you find that the way comic book and print media are changing?

Answer:  Well even with the wide array of thing you can ready on the internet when it come to comic book. I still see that the print media will still be around. The reason being that as comic book are created the internet. That the publisher and writer still do a printed virsin for there own vaults, like in the case of DC Comic. They print thousands of comic booth for for digital media and print. But each one of them had a printed copy that a person can walk into there vault and see.
